The 12th International Conference on Project Management and the 2024 Beijing Summit Forum on Engineering Management Science were grandly held at the Xicheng Campus of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture on June 29, 2024, which was jointly sponsored by the Beijing Society for Engineering Management Science, Tianjin Society for Engineering Management, Hebei Province Project Management Association, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Hubei Zhongke Geological and Environmental Technology Service Center. Focusing on the theme of "New-form Productivity and Engineering Management Innovation", the conference brought together numerous experts and scholars in the field of engineering management at home and abroad to discuss the cutting-edge trends and development directions of the industry. |

On the morning of the 29th, the conference opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Jun Jiang, Chairman of Beijing Engineering Management Science Institute, with with a warm and solemn atmosphere on site. Prof. Jinzhang Liu, Vice President and Secretary General of China Construction Industry Association, delivered the opening speech, elaborating on the key position and core value of engineering management innovation in developing new quality productivity, and deeply analyzing the leading role of industry policies in engineering management. |

The keynote session was chaired by Prof. Chengshuang Sun, Secretary-General of the Beijing Society of Engineering Management Science. Zhibing Mao, Chief Decision-Making Expert of the China Association for Science and Technology and Chairman of the Chief Engineers Committee of the China Civil Engineering Society, delivered a speech with the title of"Accelerating New Quality Productive Forces to Empower High-Quality Industry Development." He provided an in-depth analysis of how the integration of "three-creations" (design, construction, and operation) and the coordination of "four-modernizations" (digitalization, intelligence, greening, and industrialization) serve as critical pathways for cultivating new quality productive forces in the industry. Xushu Peng, Research Fellow in the Institute of Quantitative and Technical Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered his speech with the title of "Developing New Quality Productive Forces: Strategic Implications and Key Issues," offered macro-strategic insights into the formation logic and key focus areas of new quality productive forces. Jiulin Li, National Outstanding Engineer and Chief Engineer of Beijing Urban Construction Group, shared case studies in his speech of "Optimizing Engineering Construction to Promote Quality Development in the Construction Industry," demonstrated the application effects of design-construction dual optimization and key technologies in Olympic engineering projects. Yaowu Wang, Deputy Director of the High-Quality Development Research Institute of the China Construction Industry Association and Professor in Harbin Institute of Technology, delivered the speech titled "The Connotation and Development Pathways of New Quality Productive Forces in Construction." He precisely interpreted the core principles of new quality productive forces in construction and proposed cultivation strategies including innovating construction methods, enterprise transformation and upgrading, digital transformation, and developing a new-generation workforce. Guohua Zhou, Professor in the School of Economics and Management of Southwest Jiaotong University, Director of the Railway Industry International Cultural Exchange Research Institute, and Executive Director of the Sichuan High-Speed Rail Internationalization Collaborative Innovation Center, delivered a speech titled "Digital-Intelligent Development in Major Linear Engineering Projects: A Case Study of High-Speed Rail Projects." Supported by comprehensive data and case studies, he elaborated on the latest developments and trends in intelligent construction management for high-speed rail projects. |

On the afternoon of the 29th, two parallel report sessions were held at the conference, which were respectively presided over by Hongguang Wei, President of the Hebei Province Project Management Association, Dong Huining, Deputy Secretary General of the Academic Committee of North China University of Technology, Yuanyuan Hua, Deputy Secretary General of the Beijing Engineering Management Science Institute, and Mei Liu, Secretary-General of the Expert Committee of Beijing Engineering Management Science Institute. Chuang Liu, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Branch of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., shared the successful experiences of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau in intelligent construction and intelligent operation and maintenance. Wei Ai, Deputy Secretary General of the Tianjin Society for Engineering Management, conducted an in-depth analysis of a classic management case of cross-organizational cooperation in international engineering projects. Prof. Zhenyu Zhao from North China Electric Power University and Du Chaojie, Executive Vice President of the Hebei Province Project Management Association, respectively carried out in-depth discussions on popular topics such as the key issues in the development of whole-process engineering consulting, the digital transformation of engineering consulting, and the practical application of AI. Prof. Zhang Jiliang from Northeastern University gave a report on the evaluation of the wireless friendliness of buildings, and Professor Zhao Jiang from Shaoxing University of Arts and Sciences delivered a report on the innovation of engineering management and the improvement of new-form productivity in the era of the industrial Internet. You Wan, Executive Editor-in-Chief of the magazine 《Green Construction and Intelligent Building》, and Jingfeng Hou, Director of the Department of Intelligent Construction at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, presented cutting-edge content such as the application status quo and development trends of construction robots, as well as the practice of the construction of intelligent construction majors and talent cultivation in universities. Their reports presented brand-new perspectives of thinking and innovative ideas to the participants. |

In addition, 36 authors from various universities and research institutions, including Southeast University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Central South University, Chongqing University, Tianjin University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Zhengzhou University, China University of Mining and Technology, People's Public Security University of China, Shenyang Aerospace University, Chongqing Technology and Business University, Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Liaoning Technical University, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, and Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, gave oral reports at the parallel sessions. 11 authors' papers were presented by posters. |

The Best Paper Award selection process has been set up by the organizing committee. Through rigorous evaluation by distinguished panel from the Conference Academic Committee, involving double-blind peer review, plagiarism screening and confidential voting, ten outstanding papers were selected for this honor. The awards were conferred by Changbo Cheng, director of Hubei Zhongke Institute of Geology and Environment Technology, who presented certificates and bonuses to the recipients. |

According to the arrangements of the organizing committee, a book-giving session has been set up for attendees. All officially registered representatives will receive seven monographs compiled under the leadership of Academician Xuwen Xiao and Academician Lili Sun, honorary chairpersons of Beijing Engineering Management Science Institute and members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Wei Hongguang, President of the Hebei Project Management Association and General Manager of Ruihe Anhui Project Management Group Co., Ltd., presented the books to the conference representatives: Associate Professor Weimin Chen from Nanchang University, Postdoctoral Researcher Pei Ma from University of Hong Kong, Deputy Director Hailiang Zhang of the Engineering Management Division，Jiangsu Provincial Architectural Design Institute, General Manager Kun Xu of Shandong Sutong Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., and Director Haoyong Chen of Municipal Bridge Management Office at the Fengcheng Municipal Landscape Service Center in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. |

On the morning of June 30th, the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee arranged some delegates to visit and exchange ideas at the construction site of the Comprehensive Land Use Project in Lugu, Shijingshan District, undertaken by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau. As a large-scale comprehensive project, the Comprehensive Land Use Project in Lugu, Shijingshan District, undertaken by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, covers the application of the latest technologies and management methods in multiple construction fields. The site visit activity was presided over by Chuang Liu, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Branch of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., Project Manager Min Zhu, Xiaomi Cong, Vice Chairman of Beijing Engineering Management Science Institute, and Chun Zhou, Deputy Secretary-General of Beijing Engineering Management Science Institute. During the on-site visit, the conference delegates listened attentively to the explanations by the experts from Beijing Branch of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., and actively interacted and communicated with the persons in charge of the project department, raising many common issues worthy of discussion. This site visit activity provided the participating delegates with an opportunity to get up close and personal with and understand the frontiers of engineering management practices, enabling them to have a more intuitive understanding of the latest cutting-edge management concepts in current engineering construction and the application of new construction technologies. |
